English

Subject field(s)
  • Vacuum Tubes (Electronics)
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
DEF

The voltage between a grid and the cathode of an electron tube.

CONT

By reducing the plate voltage applied to the amplifier, and the screen voltage for a pentode, the amount of negative grid voltage necessary to cut off the flow of plate current is reduced to the value required. Then plate current flows only during the time corresponding to the synchronizing pulses of the composite video signal input, producing separated sync output.

Subject field(s)
  • Chemistry
  • Food Additives
  • Chocolate and Confectionery
DEF

A product (most often a liquid) which is sprayed on a food and forms a shiny film when dry.

OBS

To some extent, glazing agents act as preservatives.

OBS

According to the Additives and Pesticides Division, Health Protection Branch, there is a difference between "glazing agent" and "polishing agent". However, the end result, that is, to impart a shine, is the same for both agents. A glazing agent is applied as a solvent which dissolves and leaves a glaze. Smarties are an example of a candy for which confectioners use a glazing agent.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie
  • Additifs alimentaires
  • Confiserie et chocolaterie
DEF

OBS

Ne pas confondre avec «agent de satinage».
